Company Overview

JMC Legal Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Legal and Compliance to join our client, a leading AI Fintech start-up based in Central London. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented legal professional to play a pivotal role in shaping the company's legal framework and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

About the Role

The Head of Legal and Compliance will be responsible for overseeing all legal aspects of the company, including commercial contracts, compliance, corporate governance, financing, GDPR, employment, and visa/immigration work. This role requires exceptional leadership and the ability to handle high-pressure situations, making critical decisions that safeguard the company's interests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement effective legal strategies to support the company's rapid growth and expansion
  • Provide strategic legal guidance to the management team and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations
  • Manage and maintain relationships with the company's panel of external lawyers
  • Collaborate with the business development team to identify and mitigate legal risks
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations

Requirements

  • 7+ years of post-qualification experience with a Tier 1 law firm and in-house experience
  • Start-up/Scale-up experience within the FS, AI/Tech sectors is preferred
  • Willingness to work in a demanding, entrepreneurial environment with a positive working attitude
