About the Role

Bournemouth University is committed to creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students. As a Student Support and Engagement Coordinator, you will play a vital role in ensuring that students receive the help and guidance they need to succeed in their academic pursuits.

Reporting to the Manager, you will be the first point of contact for students who are experiencing wellbeing issues or concerns. You will work closely with faculty members and Student Services to identify and address areas of student concern, including non-engagement and general wellbeing issues that impact upon students' ability to complete their program.

With experience in addressing welfare issues for adult learners and vulnerable groups, you will possess exceptional interpersonal skills, including empathy, understanding of professional boundaries, and the ability to work within these at all times. You will have a good understanding of confidentiality and data protection issues and be able to demonstrate a confident approach in dealing with challenging situations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide first-line response to wellbeing issues and concerns for students
  • Work closely with faculty members and Student Services to identify and address areas of student concern
  • Develop and implement strategies to support student engagement and wellbeing
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a comprehensive and supportive student experience
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in addressing welfare issues for adult learners and vulnerable groups
  • Good understanding of confidentiality and data protection issues
  • Ability to work within professional boundaries and demonstrate a confident approach in dealing with challenging situations
  • Excellent communication, literacy, and IT skills
