We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our team at the State University of New York at Buffalo. The successful candidate will work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, conducting cutting-edge research in the field of virology and immunology.

Research Focus

The Boliar lab is focused on understanding the mechanisms of HIV-1 persistence in tissue-resident lung alveolar macrophages and its impacts on macrophage innate immunity. The postdoctoral associate will work closely with scientists at the Malawi-Liverpool-Wellcome Clinical Research Program in Blantyre, Malawi to investigate viral genomic and transcriptomic profiles in infected alveolar macrophages and how the cellular distribution compares in anti-retroviral treated or untreated study participants.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct research in BSL2+ lab with HIV-1 virus, molecular virology, cell culture, cloning, RNA biology, and flow-cytometry/sorting.
  • Collaborate with international research teams to design and implement experiments.
  • Analyze and interpret data to draw conclusions and inform research directions.
Requirements

PhD graduate in the field of virology, immunology, or biochemistry.

Strong background in molecular biology, virology, and immunology.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
