Vacancy for Digital Collections Officer at Special Collections & Galleries, Leeds University Library

Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Digital Collections Officer to join our team at Special Collections & Galleries, Leeds University Library. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for surveying, processing, and cataloguing born-digital archive materials, extracting metadata, and establishing archival structures.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement standards for metadata extraction and archival structures.
  2. Collaborate with the Digital Archivist to ensure consistency across collections.
  3. Process collections from arrival to ingestion, creating catalogue records for born digital items.
  4. Manage rights and permissions metadata for ingestion and access.
  5. Work closely with colleagues across the Special Collections team and broader Library teams.

Requirements:

You will have a good understanding of archival principles, digital archives, and be comfortable analysing and understanding their structure and format. You will be a confident user of IT, willing to learn and apply new systems, and have excellent problem-solving skills. You will be a team-worker, able to collaborate productively, and have excellent communication skills.

Special Collections at the University of Leeds holds outstanding collections, encompassing rare books and archives, the University's institutional archive, and the Stanley and Audrey Burton Art Gallery.
