An exciting opportunity has emerged for a dedicated and proactive individual to become part of the Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust Inpatient Division as a Maternal Support Specialist within our maternity services. Positions are available in both the delivery suite and inpatient wards.

The Maternal Support Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting the Midwifery and medical teams through this dynamic and diverse position. You will collaborate with the team in the Inpatient service and may occasionally be called upon to support other clinical areas within our maternity unit, allowing you to acquire a broad range of skills and knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidates should be prepared to work various day and night shift patterns across a 7-day service, including weekends and all bank holidays. Please indicate your preference for full-time or part-time work on your application.

You will need to possess strong computer skills, administrative capabilities, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills, both in person and over the phone.

Qualifications

Essential

  • GCSE Maths and English Grades A-C, Levels 4-9, Functional Skills Level 2, or equivalent.

Desirable

  • NVQ Level 2 in Healthcare or equivalent experience.
  • Care Certificate.

Experience

Essential

  • Understanding of Health and Safety regulations.
  • Knowledge of data protection and confidentiality.

Desirable

  • One year of formal maternity care experience in a hospital or birth center.
  • Experience in an acute hospital environment.
  • Experience in delivering high-quality care.
  • Awareness of safeguarding issues.
  • Experience with hospital patient record systems.

  • Capability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
