Job Overview

Our Infectious Diseases unit provides high-quality care and protection for patients across the County. Our service has led the way in the fight against COVID-19 and we are proud of our team who rallied to the call from our Country. Our service leads the way in researching COVID-19, provides evidence-based hands-on experience, all the necessary Personal Protective Equipment, full-time infection prevention teams, dedicated practice educators, and a hardworking but fun team spirit.

Main Duties of the Job
  • To work as part of a team ensuring effective communication with all healthcare professionals within the clinical team and across all disciplines.
  • Act as a role model within the clinical area.
  • Adhere to the Trust values in all working relationships to patients, carers, and staff.
  • Teach/assess and facilitate learning for all learners in the ward area, particularly students and healthcare assistants.
  • Undertake the Mentorship qualification.
  • Demonstrate good leadership skills and ensure that communication is effective between the patient, relatives, and members of the multidisciplinary team, and ensure appropriate nursing input into patient care discussions.
  • Ensure communication is used effectively in the interests of patient care, including the use of handover and clinical incident reporting if necessary.
  • Demonstrate politeness, courtesy, and sensitivity in dealing with patients/clients, visitors/relatives, and colleagues, maintaining good customer relations and recognizing individuality and rights for each patient in line with Trust values.
  • Work effectively within a multi-racial and cultural environment.
Person SpecificationExperience/Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse With NMC
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Flexible with shift works and able to work in other areas of specialty medicine
Desirable Criteria
  • Venepuncture and Cannulation
  • Mentorship or practice supervisor experience
  • Basic IT skills
