Position Objective:
The primary responsibility of the Team Leader is to oversee and ensure the effective management of the recovery area, providing both direct and indirect support to staff engaged in post-anaesthetic care for all patients.
This role is crucial in maintaining the seamless flow of patients and optimizing theatre operations, while also supervising and deploying the team effectively within the department. The Team Leader is also responsible for mentoring and guiding pre-registration students, unqualified personnel, registered nurses, operating department practitioners, and patients.
It is essential to stay informed and provide ongoing support to all recovery staff, collaborating closely with clinical teams, theatre management, and coordinators.

Ensure a secure environment for patients undergoing both acute and chronic pain management, as well as post-operative care in the recovery area.
Offer clinical and professional guidance, serving as the lead member of the post-anaesthetic care team.
Act as a role model, leading the team and providing expert assistance to the post-anaesthetic care staff.
Assume managerial responsibilities for a designated recovery area and its personnel, coordinating with relevant disciplines and offering specialized advice within that domain.
Foster an environment conducive to delivering high-quality care while promoting effective communication and relationships among staff, patients, and visitors.

Essential Qualifications:
- Degree/Diploma
- NMC/HCPC registration
- Completion of Recovery Course
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in post-anaesthetic care
- Compliance with Supervisor and Assessor standards
Desirable Qualifications:
- Leadership course or Critical Care Course
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) or Emergency Paediatric Life Support (EPALS)
- Pain Management Course
- Experience in caring for deteriorating children
- Recent experience in a leadership role
