About the Role

The Vehicle Examiner is a critical position within First Bus Engineering, responsible for ensuring the delivery of effective and efficient examination standards within the examination team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate the Vehicle Examination Team to achieve high standards of examination and maintenance.
  • Conduct regular maintenance and safety audits to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant Health, Safety, and Environmental (HS&E) legislation and Group policies.
  • Provide guidance and support to other staff members as required.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to develop and implement effective examination procedures and standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum level 3 NVQ standard or equivalent qualification certificate and relevant working experience in the role.
  • Knowledge of DVSA standards for defect categorization and annual testing.
  • Experience with safe operation of workshop equipment, including hydraulic vehicle lifts, pressurized oil and waste systems, and other machinery.
  • Ability to attend and complete underpinning training opportunities, such as NC in Supervisory Management and Engineering.
  • Full PCV license and willingness to work flexible hours and job roles as required.
