About the Role
The Vehicle Examiner - Team Lead is responsible for ensuring the delivery of effective and efficient examination standards within the examination team under their control in accordance with Central Engineering Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and motivate the Vehicle Examination Team to achieve high standards of examination and maintenance.
- Conduct regular maintenance and safety audits to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and SOPs.
- Provide guidance and support to team members to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of examination and maintenance processes.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve examination and maintenance efficiency and effectiveness.
Requirements
- Minimum level 3 NVQ standard or equivalent qualification certificate and working experience in the role.
- Knowledge of DVSA standards for categorisation of defects and annual test.
- Experience with safe operation of workshop equipment, including hydraulic vehicle lifts, pressurised oil and waste systems, battery chargers and starters, trolley jacks, scaffolding, pressure wash and automatic washing equipment, headlamp alignment tester, hydraulic jacks and testing equipment, drilling machine, torque wrenches, pedestal grinders and general portable equipment.
- Ability to attend and complete underpinning training opportunities, such as NC in Supervisory Management and Engineering and/or Corporate Membership of IRTE.
- Full PCV licence.
- Flexibility in respect to working hours and job roles to ensure commitments are fulfilled.
