As a Junior Sister / Charge Nurse in the Paediatric Emergency Department, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality care to children and young people who require emergency treatment.

The Paediatric Emergency Department at King's is a busy and dynamic environment, with a team of experienced healthcare professionals working together to provide expert care to patients. As a Junior Sister / Charge Nurse, you will be responsible for leading a team of nurses and supporting the Band 7 team leader in the management of the department.

You will have the opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team, including youth workers, health visitors, and safeguarding and trauma nurses, to provide holistic care to patients and their families. The department is committed to providing evidence-based care, and you will have the opportunity to participate in teaching and supervision of junior staff and student nurses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of nurses in the Paediatric Emergency Department
  • Support the Band 7 team leader in the management of the department
  • Participate in teaching and supervision of junior staff and student nurses
  • Provide high-quality nursing care to patients and their families
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic care
Person SpecificationEducation and Qualifications
  • 1st level Registered Paediatric Nurse
  • Mentorship programme or equivalent teaching qualification
Experience and Skills
  • Demonstrable clinical expertise, relevant to the area
  • Team building and working skills – able to lead a team to achieve results
