About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Automation Design Engineer to join our team at Brother Industries (U.K.) Ltd. As an Automation Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and improving our production lines and equipment of the future.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed designs using CAD software to create bespoke automated equipment and production lines.
  • Conduct research and analysis to ensure design feasibility and optimization, incorporating the latest technologies and industry 4.0 innovations.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of designs, modifications, and project progress, ensuring seamless collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Prepare project costings, including Bill of Materials (BOMs), to ensure accurate budgeting and resource allocation.
  • Perform testing and validation to ensure design performance and reliability, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Provide support for modifications and design changes found at Build and Commissioning stages of the project, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption.
  • Support and troubleshoot existing equipment, both in-house and at other group companies, to maintain optimal performance and efficiency.
Requirements
  • Education to a degree level or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in equipment design and development, with a strong understanding of industrial automation and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in using 3D CAD software and knowledge of industrial automation technologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, with a commitment to quality and attention to detail.
