Our Automation Department
Our automation department is at the forefront of Brother's drive to automate new and remanufacturing processes worldwide. We work on projects from initial design, build, and implementation, both in the UK and overseas facilities. Our team creates bespoke automated equipment and production lines, working with major suppliers and utilizing processes such as 3D industrial robots, Cobots, and 3D printing, while incorporating smart factory and Industry 4.0 technologies and investigating the use of AI within the organization.
About the Role
As a mechatronics engineer, you will be involved in designing, developing, and implementing innovative mechatronic systems and solutions. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical, electronic, and computer engineering principles.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and Development: Design and develop mechatronic systems and components, including robotics, automation systems, and smart devices.
- Prototyping and Testing: Create prototypes and conduct rigorous testing to ensure functionality, reliability, and performance standards are met.
- System Integration: Integrate mechanical, electronic, and software components into cohesive systems.
- Problem Solving: Diagnose and troubleshoot issues in existing systems and develop effective solutions.
- Project Management: Lead or contribute to project planning, scheduling, and execution, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, software developers, and project managers.
- Documentation: Prepare detailed documentation, including technical reports, design specifications, and user manuals.
Requirements
- An engineering background with a degree or higher in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in mechatronic system design and development.
- Experience with programming languages such as C/C#, Python.
- Familiarity with control systems, sensors, actuators, and robotics.
- Knowledge of Industrial automation and manufacturing processes.
