Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, United Kingdom National Grid Full time
About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Energy Strategic Planning Technical Lead to join our team in the South East or Economic Heartland region. As a key member of our regional energy planning team, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing regional energy strategic plans (RESPs) that meet the needs of our stakeholders and contribute to the UK's net-zero goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement regional energy strategic plans (RESPs) that align with national energy policy and meet the needs of local stakeholders.
  • Work closely with local government, gas and electricity networks, and other local actors to understand their energy needs and develop effective solutions.
  • Lead technical engagement with stakeholders, including energy system planners and energy leads, to ensure that their needs are met and that they are informed about energy planning developments.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including local government, gas and electricity networks, and other local actors.
  • Contribute to the development of geospatial visualisations to support regional insights and communicate key changes in the energy system to stakeholders.
  • Work with the central team to develop and implement new ways to analyse and present problems and potential solutions.
About You

We are looking for an experienced energy professional with a strong understanding of the energy sector, including energy scenarios, and a proven track record of developing and implementing energy plans. You will have excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a matrix structure.

You will have a strong understanding of the 'whole energy' system, including experience in one of the energy vectors (gas and/or electricity networks, heat decarbonisation, hydrogen, transport decarbonisation, etc.). You will also have experience of working with or within energy distribution and/or transmission companies, ideally relevant to the region(s) you seek to work within.

You will have a strong understanding of geospatial data modelling, ideally applied in energy planning, including knowledge of data management procedures. You will also have experience of applying common methods and assumptions and validation of data.

You will have excellent project management, coordination and planning skills to ensure that deadlines are met, governance is adhered to, stakeholders are effectively engaged and high-quality process and outputs are achieved.

What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary between £46,000 - £54,000 per annum, dependent on experience and capability. As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on company performance, 26 days annual leave as standard and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.

We also offer full support and career-development resources to expand your skills, enhance your expertise, and maximise your potential along your career journey. You will be part of a diverse and inclusive community of belonging, where teammates are empowered to bring ideas to the table.

We are committed to building a workforce that represents the communities we serve, and a working environment in which each individual feels valued, respected, fairly treated, and able to reach their full potential.
