About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Energy Strategic Planning Technical Lead to join our team in the Southeast or Economic Heartland region. As a key member of our regional energy planning team, you will play a critical role in developing Regional Energy Strategic Plans (RESPs) for the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement technical aspects of the RESP, including interfaces with local and national data, central RESP methodology, and assumptions.
  • Work with stakeholders to gain and validate local energy insights into the RESP, including geospatial data modeling and validation of data.
  • Represent NESO's regional energy planning function to energy system planners and energy leads within local government, gas and electricity networks, and other local actors.
  • Develop and implement parts of the RESP methodology within the region, relating to gaining, validating, and balancing technical and spatial planning energy inputs.
  • Work in a matrix style structure within the wider regional energy strategic planning team to ensure work is coordinated with other regional and central RESP teams.

About You

We are looking for someone with a strong background in energy planning, technical experience within and knowledge of the energy sector, and an understanding of the 'whole energy' system. You should have experience of working with or within energy distribution and/or transmission companies, ideally relevant to the region(s) you seek to work within. You should also have a strong understanding of geospatial data modeling, ideally applied in energy planning, including knowledge of data management procedures.

What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary between £46,000 - £54,000 per annum, dependent on experience and capability. You will also receive a bonus based on company performance, 26 days annual leave as standard, and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
