About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead to join our Digital Engineering team at Nationwide Building Society. As a key member of our technical leadership team, you will be responsible for providing technical direction and oversight to multiple development teams, ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions that meet the Society's strategy and architecture roadmap.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering teams, ensuring the delivery of complex solutions that meet business requirements.
  • Lead multiple development teams, acting as the technical authority and ensuring the successful delivery of projects.
  • Collaborate with architecture, delivery, and operational teams to ensure a deep understanding of their challenges and deliver quality solutions.
  • Develop and maintain technical standards and patterns, ensuring consistency across the organization.
  • Perform direct line management of up to 10 FTEs, including mentoring and coaching team members.
  • Contribute to the development of the engineering team, ensuring we are optimally positioned to deliver our vision.
Requirements
  • Extensive background and experience working in digital technologies and deliveries in a senior capacity.
  • Experience in development and troubleshooting complex, large-scale, fault-tolerant systems.
  • Solid background in programming in modern programming languages such as Swift, Kotlin,.Net, or React.
  • Knowledge of Sencha framework or Service Mesh technologies such as Istio or Gloomesh.
  • Experience in leading technical teams across IT disciplines of Application, Test, and Infrastructure.
  • Experience in stakeholder management, including influencing external departments and stakeholders.
  • SME in mobile applications technologies and patterns.
  • Demonstrable evidence of Continuous Improvement/Continuous Delivery through Automation.
