About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Lead to join our Digital Engineering team at Nationwide Building Society. As a key member of our technical leadership team, you will be responsible for providing technical direction and oversight to a team of engineers, driving the delivery of high-quality solutions, and contributing to the company's strategic technology direction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight to a team of engineers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions.
  • Contribute to the company's strategic technology direction, defining engineering patterns and standards.
  • Work closely with the Delivery Lead, Chief Product Owner, and Architecture to ensure alignment and effective collaboration.
  • Lead the delivery of solutions, ensuring quality and adherence to governance and guardrails.
  • Support the Delivery and Tech Lead in technical decisions and release planning.
  • Collaborate with Scrum Masters and Dev Team Leads for relevant deliveries, providing technical oversight and product ownership.
  • Define and prioritize team backlogs, working closely with other engineering leads, solution engineers, product owners, and programme managers.
  • Lead/oversee complex solution designs, supporting implementation tasks and troubleshooting activities as needed.
  • Collaborate with architecture, delivery, and operational teams to ensure a deep understanding of their challenges and deliver quality solutions in line with the Society's strategy and architecture roadmap.
  • Perform direct line management of up to 10 FTE (E1-3) and act as a mentor or coach to team members.
Requirements
  • An extensive background of and experience working in digital technologies and deliveries in a senior capacity.
  • A solid background in programming in a modern programming language such as Swift/Kotlin,.Net, React, etc.
  • Experience in leading technical teams across the IT disciplines of Application, Test, and Infrastructure.
