About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead to join our Digital Engineering team at Nationwide Building Society. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and direction to a highly motivated team of engineers.

As a Technical Lead, you will be part of a strong technical and delivery team, working closely with the Engineering Leads, Delivery Lead, Chief Product Owner, and Architecture. Your primary focus will be on leading and developing engineering teams covering a variety of technologies within Digital Engineering.

You will provide technical leadership and oversight of multiple Digital Engineering teams and be a member of the Digital Tech Management Team under the Director of Channels Engineering.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Delivery and Tech Lead in technical decisions and release planning
  • Lead multiple development teams as the technical authority in the delivery team's sprints
  • Work with Scrum Masters and Dev Team Leads for relevant deliveries, responsible for technical oversight and product ownership of the delivery team's dev backlogs
  • Review business requirements and technical artifacts required for delivery, accountable for identifying and implementing technically complex artefacts
  • Define and prioritize team backlogs, working closely with other engineering leads, solution engineers, product owners, and programme managers
  • Lead/oversee complex solution designs and support implementation tasks and troubleshooting activities where required
  • Collaborate with architecture, delivery, and operational teams to ensure a deep understanding of their challenges, enabling the delivery of quality solutions in line with the Society's strategy and architecture roadmap
About You

We are looking for someone with an extensive background in digital technologies and deliveries in a senior capacity. You should have experience in development and troubleshooting complex, large-scale, fault-tolerant systems.

You must have a solid background in programming in a modern programming language such as Swift, Kotlin,.Net, or React. Knowledge of Sencha framework or Service Mesh technologies such as Istio or Gloomesh is also desirable.

You should have experience in leading technical teams across the IT disciplines of Application, Test, and Infrastructure. Experience in stakeholder management, including influencing external departments and stakeholders, is also essential.

We are looking for someone who is a SME in mobile applications technologies and patterns and has demonstrable evidence of Continuous Improvement/Continuous Delivery through Automation.
