Our client is a leading civil engineering contractor seeking a Design Manager to join their team in the Southern Water region. As a Design Manager, you will play a key role in leading a team of designers and engineers to deliver high-quality projects valued between £5m and £50m.
Key Responsibilities:- Design Team Management: Effectively manage the design teams to ensure compliance with project requirements, standards, and specifications.
- CDM Regulations: Adhere to CDM regulations as the Design Manager and ensure that appropriate CDM appointments are in place.
- Safety and Sustainability: Promote safety, environmental best practice, and sustainability through design.
- Design Plans and Briefs: Produce design plans and briefs.
- Contract Management: Manage the agreed contract with external design consultants.
- Estimation and Project Management: Support Estimators and Project Managers to produce and manage the design and budget schedule.
- Change Control: Implement change control processes to track and manage the development of the engineering element of a project.
- Design Reviews: Lead internal and external design reviews.
- Relationship Building: Develop relationships with Regional HSEQ team, Quality and Technical Assurance Manager, Communication team, Design Teams, Engineering Teams, and Regional Site Teams.
- Supply Chain Selection: Support supply chain selection for specialists' input on the design.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with other technical, operational, maintenance, and strategic stakeholders, and design coordinators.
- Liaison: Liaise with Engineering Managers, Project Managers, and consultants concerning project issues, scope changes, risks, etc.
- Design and Management Experience: Minimum of 5 years design and management experience.
- BIM and CDE: Working knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and common data environments.
- Water and Wastewater Infrastructure: Experience in the design management of water and wastewater infrastructure, including pipelines, hydraulics, and MEICA.
- People Management: People management, time management, and project design management skills.
