About the Position
As a Visual Communication and Wayfinding Specialist at Design JD, you will play a vital role within our closely-knit, creative team. You will have the exceptional chance to spearhead a variety of projects, ranging from wayfinding assessments and strategies to branding, infographics, and marketing materials. This position is ideal for someone enthusiastic about redefining the realms of branding and design while making a significant impact on how our clients engage with their audiences.
This role is part of a collaborative partnership between Design JD and Claro, a prominent consultancy focused on inclusive design, wayfinding, and accessibility. You will have the unique opportunity to contribute across both teams, merging Design JD's creative prowess in branding and wayfinding with Claro's commitment to enhancing navigability and accessibility for all.
You will collaborate closely with our Studio Manager while enjoying the independence to oversee projects from inception to completion, ensuring that every design not only meets but surpasses client expectations. With a hybrid work model, you will benefit from the flexibility of remote work while also spending time in our inspiring South London office.

Key Responsibilities
- Client Engagement: Collaborate with clients to grasp their business goals and project needs, translating these into effective design solutions.
- Creative Direction: Lead the creative process, from initial design concepts to final execution, ensuring all work aligns with client requirements and our brand standards.
- Innovative Design: Generate fresh ideas and interactive designs, challenging the norms of traditional wayfinding and graphic design.
- Project Oversight: Manage projects from brief to production, coordinating with external partners, and ensuring timely delivery within budget constraints.
- Field Engagement: Travel to various locations to conduct surveys, develop wayfinding assessments and strategies, and oversee the implementation of your designs.
What We Seek
- Design Proficiency: Skilled in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat) on a Mac, with a robust portfolio showcasing your expertise in branding, information design, and signage.
- Creative Problem-Solving: Ability to tackle design challenges with innovation, delivering solutions that are both functional and visually appealing.
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and team members. You are a team player who thrives in a collaborative, energetic environment.

Additional Skills (Preferred but Not Required)
- Digital Proficiency: Familiarity with digital technologies such as WordPress, HTML, CSS, and experience in video creation and editing.
- Interest in Emerging Technologies: Enthusiasm for staying updated with the latest design tools and technologies, including CAD.
Qualifications
Minimum of 4 GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths, English, and ICT.
A-Level or equivalent in Design.
A portfolio that demonstrates a high level of creativity and design excellence.
