Compensation: £34,900-£38,400 (New employees typically start at the entry level of the grade.)

About the Organization

The Security Industry Authority (SIA) is the regulatory body overseeing the private security sector. As an independent agency of the Home Office, we report directly to the Home Secretary, operating under the Private Security Industry Act 2001. Our mission is to enhance public safety through effective regulation and collaboration with partners to elevate industry standards.

Role Overview

In this role, you will be an integral part of the strategy and scheme design team within Business Standards. This department is tasked with the development, execution, and management of strategies aimed at elevating the operational standards of businesses within the private security sector.

We are initiating a program to implement our strategic vision, which includes augmenting our technical expertise to support the rollout of a new business approval framework. Your contributions will be vital in providing specialized knowledge that will guide our strategic planning, design, and execution of this initiative.

This position is dynamic and high-profile, placing you at the forefront of transformative efforts within the private security industry. You will be responsible for conducting comprehensive research and analysis to establish and refine standards for businesses, thereby enhancing public safety capabilities within the sector.

Key Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Proven experience in leading and managing technical research initiatives.
  • Ability to influence strategic decisions through informed analysis and research.
  • Solid understanding of various research methodologies that yield actionable insights for strategic decision-making.
  • Capability to derive conclusions from research findings and make sound recommendations in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Experience in managing relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to achieve research goals.
  • Proficiency in facilitating discussions, both one-on-one and in group settings, relevant to research projects.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey complex data clearly to diverse audiences, both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience in self-management and overseeing junior team members in a fast-paced setting, effectively handling multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Familiarity with research and analysis tools, including survey design, PowerBI, and Excel.

Work Environment

This position is based at our Head Office in London, with the expectation of working in the office 1-2 days a week, alongside flexible working options. Occasional travel within the UK may be necessary.
