Role Responsibilities

Your position will be within the Seafarer Operations team, part of the UK Customer Maritime Services Directorate. This team is dedicated to the Certification and Endorsement of seafarers, essentially providing them with the necessary credentials to work at sea.

In this role, you will deliver outstanding customer service while assessing applications from seafarers for marine examinations and subsequent Certificates of Competency or Flag State Endorsements. As a customer-facing position, you will offer guidance and support to applicants and current Certificate or Endorsement holders.

Your duties will include:

  • Evaluating applications to enable seafarers to undertake oral examinations for Merchant Navy Yacht and Fishing Vessel Deck and Engineer.
  • Issuing Notices of Eligibility (NoE) or Notices of Assessment (NoA) to qualified seafarers and informing those who do not meet the criteria.
  • Assessing applications for Certificates of Competency (CoC) and Flag State Endorsements (FSE) and issuing them to eligible candidates.
  • Responding to inquiries from seafarers, maritime colleges, and shipping companies, ensuring a high standard of customer service.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be a motivated and enthusiastic individual with a flexible approach and a strong desire to learn. You will possess excellent organizational and time management skills, allowing you to manage a variety of tasks effectively.

Your attention to detail will be paramount as you handle applications, ensuring compliance with quality standards while maintaining efficiency.

Experience in a customer service environment is essential, along with strong communication skills to convey information clearly and professionally. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook, Excel, and Word, is required.

As a proactive team player, you will be capable of working independently and under pressure, contributing to the overall success of the organization.
