We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Marine Procurement Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our procurement function, you will be responsible for sourcing high-quality spares and parts, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring optimal supplier performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Procure technical stores, spares, and provisions in a cost-effective manner.
- Manage the complete procurement cycle, including obtaining quotations and ordering from approved suppliers.
- Monitor and ensure that ships' masters and chief engineers process requisitions and orders according to company procedures.
- Provide purchasing guidance, high-risk ports, and approved local ship chandlers to vessels.
- Coordinate logistics and shipping instructions for connecting orders to vessels.
- Use procurement systems to manage orders, filings, and records.
- Liaise with technical managers to obtain necessary approvals and place orders.
- Verify invoices and process variances with technical managers.
- Stay up-to-date with new product information and monitor supplier performance.
- Update pricing and source new suppliers based on feedback from masters and chief engineers.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years' experience in the maritime industry.
- Marine procurement experience with category management skills.
- Strong market awareness and understanding of maritime supply chain components, regulations, market conditions, trade documentation, and insurances.
- Demonstrated experience in concluding successful negotiations with global suppliers and vendors.
- Clear, precise, and confident verbal and written communication skills.
- Commercial aptitude and ability.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain relationships with key contacts.
- Well-developed numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and excellent communication skills.
- Procurement or marine engineering-related degree or equivalent.
- Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply or an equivalent professional body.
