Role of the Package Engineer

As a vital member of the project team, you will report directly to the Chief Engineer. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee the design, coordination, and management of various subcontractors engaged in multiple trades within your designated area.

This position demands a high level of collaboration with both internal departments and external partners, including architects, engineers, construction personnel, subcontractors, client representatives, and site staff. You will be responsible for ensuring that subcontractor obligations are clearly understood and fulfilled.

Additionally, you will organize and lead regular site progress meetings with subcontractors to assess progress, quality, and safety, keeping the Chief Engineer and Project Manager informed of any issues.

Your Qualifications

Key focus areas will include piling, preliminaries, and groundworks. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related discipline
  • The capability to prepare a three-week look-ahead program with the assistance of a project planner
  • Proven experience in package management
  • Experience as a Temporary Works Coordinator is advantageous
  • Knowledge of building products, construction details, and relevant regulations and quality standards
  • Progress towards a professional membership in a construction-related organization (e.g., ICE, CIOB, RICS, CIBSE, IStructE)
