The Package Engineer Role
You will be a member of the project team, reporting to the Chief Engineer. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the design, coordination, and management of sub-contractors employed in various trades within the project area.
The role requires strong interfacing with internal departments and external agencies, such as architects, engineers, construction workers, sub-contractors, client agents, clerk of works, and site staff. You will be responsible for coordinating and managing sub-contractors, ensuring SRM obligations are understood and discharged.
You will also organize and conduct regular site progress meetings with sub-contractors to monitor progress, quality, and safety. This will ensure the Chief Engineer and Project Manager/Project Director are updated on all issues.
Your Profile
Key areas of focus will be Piling, Prelims, and Groundworks. To be successful in this role, you will:
- Hold a degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- Be able to prepare a 3-week look-ahead program with assistance from the project planner.
- Have proven working experience in package management.
- Have experience as a Temporary Works Coordinator, which would be an advantage.
- Be knowledgeable of building products, construction details, and relevant rules, regulations, and quality standards.
- Have or be working towards a construction industry-related Professional membership (e.g., ICE, CIOB, RICS, ICE, CIBSE, IStructE, etc).
