Our organization employs a robust team of over 120 pharmacists across multiple locations, delivering clinical pharmacy services across all major medical specialties.

This role is situated within our surgical department.

We seek a proactive, enthusiastic, and innovative clinical pharmacist to collaborate with our vascular team in reviewing and prescribing for patients undergoing vascular surgery, while also providing essential clinical support during their pre-operative care.

This position is newly established within our organization, and we are looking for a driven individual with expertise in managing vascular patients and their associated health conditions, working alongside a team of surgical pharmacists from the pre-operative phase through to patient discharge.

Our fully integrated electronic systems will empower you to deliver exceptional clinical care to your patients. The successful candidate will take on a leadership role, ensuring the provision of a high-quality, proactive, and patient-centered clinical pharmacy service for preoperative and same-day elective surgical admissions.

Key Responsibilities

- Collaborate with the Divisional Lead Pharmacist for Surgery to enhance pharmacy services and medication management within the surgical division.

- Support the Divisional Lead Pharmacist in delivering clinical training and oversight pertinent to preoperative care.

- Lead and provide clinical expertise in the development and delivery of pharmacy services to the vascular surgery departments, establishing an exemplary clinical service for our patients.

- Oversee and manage the vascular surgery pharmacy team daily to ensure a safe and effective specialist clinical pharmacy service for both patients and staff.

- Work closely with vascular surgeons and nursing staff to identify and optimize patient co-morbidities, ensuring timely referrals to other specialties or services prior to surgery.

- Provide effective leadership for the clinical pharmacy service for patients admitted for both acute and elective surgical procedures.

- Deliver daily non-medical prescribing services to vascular surgical patients in surgical wards.

- Conduct patient consultations for those scheduled for vascular surgery.

- Assess the clinical and economic implications of medication use, develop and implement clinical guidelines, monitor pharmaceutical expenditures, and assist the area in achieving clinical and financial objectives.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Qualifications

  • Vocational master's degree in pharmacy
  • Full Non-Medical Prescribing (NMP) qualification
  • Membership with The General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent documented clinical experience

Desirable Qualifications

  • MRPharmS
  • Membership with UKCPA

Essential Experience

  • Significant experience in a relevant specialist pharmacist role
  • Experience in Antimicrobial Stewardship
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and education
  • Experience as a Non-Medical Prescriber

Essential Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong clinical knowledge and practical skills relevant to the specialist role
  • Comprehensive clinical knowledge and practical skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
