About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Support Worker to join our dynamic team at DePaul UK. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting and empowering young adults with complex mental health needs to achieve their goals and live independently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety and Wellbeing: Ensure the safety and wellbeing of clients in the service at all times, including using safeguarding and emergency alert procedures as applicable.
  • Relationship Building: Build positive relationships with all young people in the service to provide effective support and guidance.
  • Support Planning: Proactively develop and implement SMART outcomes-based support plans for your key clients, taking into account their individual needs and goals.
  • Risk Assessment: Lead on risk and needs assessment for your key clients and contribute to ongoing needs and risk assessment of other clients in the service.
  • Environment Safety: Using a trauma-informed approach, ensure the health and safety of the environment for clients, staff, visitors, and volunteers through regular checks and reporting.
Requirements
  • A relevant qualification, for example, in psychology, counselling, social work, mental health, and/or significant experience of working with young people with complex needs.
  • Experience of dealing with complex and difficult situations in relation to people.
  • Ability to maintain enthusiasm for a high level of contact with clients on a day-to-day basis and a non-judgmental approach to working with people with complex needs.
  • Active Listening: Ability to listen attentively to the needs and concerns of clients and provide appropriate support and guidance.
  • Empathy and Compassion: Ability to understand and connect with the challenges faced by young people experiencing homelessness and mental distress and provide emotional support.
