We are seeking a highly skilled Development Underwriter to join our team at Avencia Consulting. As a Development Underwriter, you will play a critical role in supporting the growth and development of our broker relationships.
Key Responsibilities- Provide exceptional underwriting services to brokers, demonstrating a thorough knowledge of company guidelines and authority levels.
- Underwrite complex new business within defined underwriting authority, ensuring profitability objectives are met.
- Actively manage and maintain strong broker relationships, providing an efficient new business service to achieve best outcomes and win business.
- Responsible for the performance of Central or South East brokers, developing robust relationships and driving growth.
- Develop new broker relationships, identifying opportunities to demonstrate our capabilities and ensure Markel is a preferred provider of insurance.
- Provide input into the Head of Financial Lines reporting on broker activity and new business production.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date broker data on the CRM system.
- Work with the team to identify and secure prospects and opportunities from Central or South East broker panel, recording on the CRM system in accordance with the CRM Working Practices guide.
- Promote a coaching and mentoring culture, providing challenge and support to team members to deliver a high-quality underwriting service.
- Develop team members' technical knowledge through day-to-day underwriting referrals and exposure to complex risks.
- Develop pipeline with partner brokers to drive growth and deliver the right outcomes for allocated brokers and their customers.
- Proven relevant underwriting experience in an underwriting role, with demonstrable technical skills.
- Track record in building and developing broker relationships, with a strong desire to be highly visible to brokers.
- Background and experience in Professional Indemnity and Directors and Officers classes of business is desirable.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to win business while maintaining underwriting field.
- Demonstrable IT skills, including MS Office, Word, PowerPoint, and CRM, with a willingness to learn our systems.
