Teaching Assistant for SEND Students

Protocol Education is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a specialist provision in Loughton. This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm, with a temporary-permanent opportunity for the right candidate.

The students you will be supporting have a range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, complex learning disabilities, or require behavioral support.

You will be required to assist in the daily activities of the classroom and utilize your creative skills to uniquely support the SEND students. You will provide one-to-one support and create a positive atmosphere. A friendly and positive approach to teaching and learning, as well as the ability to quickly build strong relationships and rapport with individual students, is essential.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working with SEND or children
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • A passion for education and creating an environment where students can improve their studies
  • The ability to use their creative nature to engage students, improve confidence, and positively influence a fun and supportive learning process

The role:

  • Supervise pupils with SEND, ensuring their safety and ability to access learning activities and understand the information presented
  • Aid the execution of education plans suitable to each pupil's learning objectives
  • Build a trusting relationship with all pupils and communicate according to their understanding
  • Promote class interaction and ensure pupils engage throughout the lessons
  • Create an interesting environment for students
  • Assist pupils with practical activities using a variety of teaching aids
  • Look after children's physical, social, and emotional welfare

Your experience does not necessarily need to be in a school environment, but rather working or volunteering in youth groups, sports coaching, or after-school clubs.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
