Teaching Assistant Opportunity for SEND Students

Protocol Education is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a specialist provision in Loughton. This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm, with a temporary-permanent opportunity for the right candidate.

The students you will be supporting have a range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, complex learning disabilities, or require behavioral support.

You will be required to assist in the daily activities of the classroom and utilize your creative skills to provide unique support to the SEND students. Your role will involve providing one-to-one support and creating a positive atmosphere. A friendly and positive approach to teaching and learning, as well as the ability to build strong relationships and rapport with individual students, is essential.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working with SEND students or children
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • A passion for education and creating an environment where students can improve their studies
  • The ability to use their creative nature to engage students, improve confidence, and positively influence a fun and supportive learning process

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising pupils with SEND, ensuring their safety and ability to access learning activities and understand the information presented
  • Aiding the execution of education plans suitable to each pupil's learning objectives
  • Building trusting relationships with all pupils and communicating according to their understanding
  • Promoting class interaction and ensuring pupils engage throughout lessons
  • Creating an interesting environment for students
  • Assisting pupils with practical activities using various teaching aids
  • Looking after children's physical, social, and emotional welfare

While experience in a school environment is not necessary, you may have worked or volunteered in youth groups, sports coaching, or after-school clubs. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This is a temporary position, with the option to make it permanent at a later date. Protocol Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We offer FREE online safeguarding and Prevent Duty training to all our workers.
