Stonewater is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Development Manager to lead the delivery of new business in the North region and oversee the on-site delivery of a programme of development schemes. The successful candidate will ensure a smooth and effective handover into management, while providing support to the Head of Development and encouraging a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, and customer-focused service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead on and serve as the primary point of contact to deliver Stonewater's growth ambitions in the Yorkshire region.
  • Work on complex, larger developments, managing such projects at design, tender, and/or construction phases, and identify, appraise, secure, and develop new projects.
  • Provide continuity of leadership to the team of Development Managers and Project Officers in the absence of the Head of Development or during times of high workload pressure.
  • Act as a role model, ensuring an agile and commercial approach is taken to the delivery of new homes.
  • Develop and maintain key stakeholder relationships, including with local authorities, developers, and other industry partners.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with development projects, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Development to develop and implement business strategies, ensuring alignment with Stonewater's overall goals and objectives.

Requirements:

  • A natural leader with a confident, independent, and proactive approach.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Housing sector, either through educational qualifications or experience.
  • A working knowledge of affordable housing, including the planning process, Homes England practices, and housing policies, as well as basic construction knowledge.
  • Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Good problem-solving skills, able to identify weaknesses within systems and procedures.
  • Experience in securing and delivering new development opportunities.
  • Good business management skills and an understanding of delivering excellent customer service in a social and commercial setting.
  • Well-established partnerships and contacts within the North region.
