Chief Sustainability and Carbon Strategist

We are expanding our team and are in search of a Sustainability and Carbon Expert who possesses a wealth of experience in integrating sustainability into large-scale infrastructure initiatives and corporate frameworks.
While the work location is adaptable, candidates who can operate from our Bristol or London offices will be prioritized. Our Sustainability and Carbon division provides guidance to clients on how to decarbonize their operations while enhancing performance across various sustainability dimensions. Our portfolio includes pioneering Decarbonisation / Net Zero Roadmaps, Whole Life Carbon Evaluations, Sustainability Reviews, TCFD, and Carbon Accounting, among other services, all while utilizing cutting-edge digital tools. Given the comprehensive nature of sustainability and the necessity for extensive action, our team collaborates across all sectors, including large-scale energy initiatives, water, rail, highways, airports, and both local and central government projects.
The ideal candidate will work in tandem with other teams across the organization, engaging at both the strategic level and throughout the lifecycle of significant infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee carbon, sustainability, and net zero initiatives for our current portfolio of major infrastructure projects and strategic clientele.
- Develop innovative carbon and sustainability strategies, designs, solutions, and management frameworks.
- Coordinate and manage sustainability contributions on major infrastructure projects.
- Represent the organization at external forums as needed, enhancing personal, team, and company reputation.
- Lead and assist in bid proposals, contributing to the drafting of submissions and ensuring key themes are consistently highlighted.
- A degree in an environmental or engineering-related field, with chartered status from a recognized professional body.
- Demonstrated experience and current knowledge in areas such as carbon accounting, decarbonisation/net zero roadmaps, sustainability assessments, whole life carbon, sustainability reporting, sustainability strategy, and supply chain engagement.
- Strong report writing, communication, and presentation skills adaptable to various audiences, seniorities, and technical levels.
- Familiarity with UK sustainability and carbon regulations and standards applicable in infrastructure and corporate reporting, across both public and private sectors.
- A genuine passion for sustainability.

Compensation and Benefits:
We offer a competitive salary benchmarked against industry standards, along with a default of 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, with options to buy or sell leave. Salary and benefits will be aligned with experience and qualifications.

Additional Information:
This position may require security clearance, and offers of employment will depend on obtaining the necessary level of clearance. If applicable, this will be discussed during the interview process. The vetting process is conducted by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK for five years or longer.
