Senior Sustainability and Carbon Advisor

AtkinsRéalis is expanding its team and is in search of a seasoned Sustainability and Carbon Consultant. This role is ideal for a professional with a strong background in integrating sustainability practices into extensive infrastructure initiatives and corporate frameworks.
While the position offers flexibility in location, candidates who can operate from our offices in Bristol or London will be preferred. Our Sustainability and Carbon team provides expert advice to clients on decarbonization strategies while enhancing performance across various sustainability dimensions. Our projects encompass industry-leading initiatives such as Decarbonisation / Net Zero Roadmaps, Whole Life Carbon Assessments, Sustainability Assessments, TCFD, and Carbon Accountancy, all supported by cutting-edge digital tools. Given the comprehensive nature of sustainability, our team engages with multiple sectors, including large-scale energy, water, rail, highways, airports, and governmental bodies.
The successful candidate will collaborate with diverse teams across the organization, engaging at both strategic levels and throughout the lifecycle of significant infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee carbon management, sustainability initiatives, and net zero strategies for our portfolio of major infrastructure projects and key clients.
- Develop innovative carbon and sustainability strategies, designs, solutions, and management plans.
- Coordinate and manage sustainability contributions on major infrastructure projects.
- Represent the company at external forums as needed, enhancing personal, team, and company reputation.
- Lead and assist in bid proposals, contributing to the preparation of submissions and ensuring key themes are consistently highlighted.
- A degree in an environmental or engineering discipline, with chartered status from a recognized professional body.
- Demonstrated experience and current knowledge in areas such as carbon accounting, decarbonisation/net zero roadmaps, sustainability assessments, whole life carbon, sustainability reporting, sustainability strategy, and supply chain engagement.
- Excellent report writing, communication, and presentation skills, adaptable to various audiences and technical levels.
- Familiarity with UK sustainability and carbon regulations and standards applicable to infrastructure and corporate reporting in both public and private sectors.
- A genuine passion for sustainability.

Compensation and Benefits:
We provide a competitive salary benchmarked against industry standards, along with a default of 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, with options to buy or sell leave. Salary and benefits will align with experience and qualifications.

Additional Information:
This role may necessitate security clearance, and employment offers will depend on obtaining the appropriate level of clearance. If applicable, this will be discussed during the interview process. The vetting process is conducted by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require candidates to provide proof of UK residency for a minimum of five years.
