Position Overview

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide transportation for the Bishop to various services, meetings, events, and train stations, both within and occasionally outside the Diocese.
  • Coordinate with personnel in The Bishops' Office to ensure all driving arrangements are effectively managed.

Driving Responsibilities

  • Availability to drive during weekdays, evenings, and weekends as required.
  • Plan and execute appropriate timings and routes for travel.
  • Assist in the servicing, repair, and basic upkeep of the Bishop's official vehicle.
  • Ensure the vehicle is consistently supplied with fuel, oil, water, and other necessary fluids.

Essential Qualifications

Licensing:

  • Possession of a clean driving license along with proof of business use insurance.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Hands-on and practical approach to tasks.
  • Ability to take initiative, plan effectively, and deliver results.
  • Strong teamwork capabilities.
  • Maintain confidentiality while being courteous, friendly, and discreet.
  • Flexibility in working hours.
  • Professional appearance, representing the Bishop and his staff positively.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in basic vehicle servicing and maintenance.
  • Proficient in handling tools and equipment related to vehicle and property maintenance.
  • Capability to operate various car models, both automatic and manual.
  • Familiarity with the geographical area encompassed by the diocese.
  • Ability to read and interpret road maps effectively.
  • Competent manual handling skills related to lifting tasks.

Desirable Qualifications

Licensing:

  • Possession of an advanced driving qualification.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Understanding of the Christian faith and a genuine interest in the Church of England.
  • Experience in public interaction and providing support to individuals in senior management or leadership roles.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Background in general maintenance work.
