Amazon is seeking a Compliance Program Manager on a fixed-term basis to spearhead the implementation of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) compliance for our partners.

Extended Producer Responsibility is a crucial environmental policy that mandates manufacturers, producers, and distributors to manage the lifecycle of their products and packaging, ensuring effective collection and recycling of post-consumer waste.

This role necessitates collaboration and direct engagement across various business units to facilitate environmental compliance initiatives. The Program Manager will specifically focus on supporting compliance strategies for partners within the EU.

They will contribute to the development of team strategies and frameworks to uphold regulatory compliance, offering guidance to business units and partners.

The individual will assess regulations, establish and track performance metrics, and assist business units in executing Amazon's recycling initiatives.

They will collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders, including governmental bodies, consultants, recycling firms, business leaders, and other key players.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, coordinate, and implement new EPR initiatives to meet legal obligations in the EU, utilizing data-driven insights to inform decision-making.
  • Engage with a variety of stakeholders, including government agencies and recyclers, to communicate operational strategies and assess risks.
  • Identify and prioritize regulatory mandates, articulate business needs, and create standard operating procedures.
  • Work alongside technical and operational teams across different time zones to develop innovative mechanisms that enhance the efficiency of the program team.
A Day in the Life

The ideal candidate should possess exceptional communication skills, a strong desire to understand environmental regulations—especially concerning Extended Producer Responsibility—and a proven track record in program management, along with experience in leading complex and technical projects.

They should be adaptable, capable of taking on various roles, whether supporting or leading initiatives, and have the initiative to actively drive projects to completion.

About the Team
The EPR compliance team is dedicated to ensuring that Amazon transactions are processed and recycled in accordance with regulations.

The team manages the regulatory aspects of product transactions, including shipping materials, product recycling, and customer information dissemination.

This involves developing programs to meet recycling requirements across multiple jurisdictions and monitoring partner compliance. The team also plays a vital role in keeping Amazon customers informed about available recycling initiatives.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience in compliance program management, legal, governance, audit, or a related field
  • Proficient in spoken and written English
  • Experience in handling confidential information
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Professional auditing qualification or similar risk or compliance credentials
  • Proficiency in SQL and Excel
  • Experience in defining program requirements, along with utilizing data and metrics to drive enhancements
