Amazon is seeking a fixed-term Compliance Program Manager to spearhead the implementation of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) compliance for our partners.

Extended Producer Responsibility is a policy aimed at environmental protection, requiring manufacturers, producers, and distributors to manage the lifecycle of their products and packaging, particularly at the end of their use, by creating systems for the collection and recycling of post-consumer waste.

This role necessitates collaboration and direct engagement across various business units to facilitate environmental compliance initiatives. The Program Manager will focus on supporting compliance programs for partners within the EU.

They will contribute to the development of team strategies and frameworks to ensure adherence to regulations, while also providing guidance to business units and partners.

The individual will assess regulations, establish and track performance metrics, and assist business units in executing Amazon's recycling initiatives.

They will engage with both internal and external stakeholders, including governmental bodies, consultants, recycling firms, business leaders, and other essential partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, coordinate, and initiate new EPR programs to meet legal obligations in the EU, utilizing data-driven insights to inform decisions.
  • Engage with a variety of stakeholders, including government agencies and recyclers, to communicate operational processes and assess risks.
  • Identify and prioritize regulatory obligations, define business needs, and develop standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with technical and operational teams across different time zones to create new processes that enhance the program team's efficiency.

The ideal candidate should possess exceptional communication skills, a strong desire to understand environmental regulations—especially those related to Extended Producer Responsibility—and a proven track record in program management, along with experience in leading complex and technical projects.

They should be adaptable, capable of taking on various roles, whether supporting or leading initiatives, and have the readiness to actively drive projects to completion.

About the Team
The EPR compliance team is responsible for ensuring that Amazon transactions are managed and recycled appropriately.

The team oversees the regulated aspects of product transactions, such as shipping materials, product recycling, and customer information, among others.

This includes developing programs to meet recycling requirements across different jurisdictions and monitoring partner compliance. The team also plays a key role in keeping Amazon customers informed about available recycling initiatives.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience in compliance program management, legal, governance, audit, or a related field
  • Proficient in spoken and written English
  • Experience managing confidential information
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Professional auditing qualification or similar risk or compliance credentials
  • Proficiency in SQL and Excel
  • Experience in defining program requirements, along with utilizing data and metrics to drive enhancements
