Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Position Overview

This role is ideal for intensivists seeking to deepen their expertise in various facets of adult cardiothoracic critical care, encompassing organ transplantation, mechanical support devices, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, focused ultrasound assessments, and transthoracic echocardiography (TOE). Candidates should have completed or be nearing completion of their specialist training in their primary field.

Specialist Registrars currently engaged in a UK training program who wish to maintain their National Training Number (NTN) while at Royal Papworth are encouraged to discuss this 'out-of-programme experience' (OOPE) with their Programme Director. Those not enrolled in a UK training program will be appointed as a Senior Clinical Fellow. It is important for applicants to note that time spent in a Trust-appointed position may not contribute towards the attainment of the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT). Prospective approval for a duration of up to one year can typically be sought from the Royal College of Physicians once a numbered post has been secured following such an appointment. International candidates should verify the latest GMC registration requirements, including proficiency in the English language.

This position is part of a dedicated cohort of 16 junior medical professionals working within critical care. The broader critical care team also includes junior doctors who are undergoing training in cardiothoracic critical care through a separate fellowship program, collaborating closely with the critical care team.
