Position Overview

We invite applications for the role of Senior Clinical Fellow in Intensive Care Medicine (ICU & NCCU) within our esteemed institution. This position is designed for individuals seeking to enhance their expertise in critical care medicine.

The available roles are situated in both the Intensive Care Unit and the Neuro Critical Care Unit, offering a unique opportunity to engage in a dynamic clinical environment. Candidates should possess a minimum of two years of post-foundation experience in acute medical specialties, with a preference for those who have completed at least six months at a senior training level.

This position is particularly advantageous for those considering additional training outside their primary specialty or those seeking further experience in a leading teaching hospital. We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds, including Medicine, Anaesthesia, Emergency Medicine, and Surgery.

Key Responsibilities

In addition to gaining invaluable clinical experience, there are opportunities for involvement in various areas of interest, such as management, echocardiography, bronchoscopy, and educational initiatives. The Intensive Care Unit participates in multiple collaborative research projects and encourages fellows to engage in these scholarly activities.

Please be aware that this position does not carry formal training recognition or Postgraduate Dean's approval.

Candidates must hold Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council upon commencement.

About the Institution

Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English, encompassing listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills, to facilitate effective communication regarding medical matters with both patients and colleagues, in accordance with the GMC's Good Medical Practice guidelines. Non-UK applicants are required to complete the IELTS/OET examination prior to obtaining a GMC licence to practice.

Job Duties

The Intensive Care Unit is a 32-bed facility that provides a mixed level of care, with a strong emphasis on multidisciplinary collaboration. The unit admits a significant number of patients annually, including a substantial number of organ transplant cases. We deliver critical care services across various specialties, excluding specific areas such as neuro-intensive care and major trauma.

The Neuro Critical Care Unit specializes in managing patients with severe neurological conditions, including traumatic brain injuries and complex multi-system trauma. We maintain close partnerships with various departments and research groups, enhancing our capacity to provide comprehensive care.
