Join Our Team as a Consultant Physician in Stroke Medicine

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled consultant physician with expertise in Stroke Medicine to become a vital part of our team at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This is a full-time position with flexible working hours, including weekends.

As a consultant, you will engage in comprehensive care for patients experiencing acute strokes and those in rehabilitation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide inpatient care for patients suffering from acute strokes and those undergoing rehabilitation.
  • Conduct rapid assessments for transient ischemic attack (TIA) patients.
  • Manage outpatient clinics focused on stroke care.
  • Participate in on-call duties for the tele-stroke thrombolysis service.

The consultant will rotate every two weeks among various services, including acute care, rehabilitation, TIA assessments, and outpatient stroke management.

Qualifications:

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council.
  • MRCP qualification.
  • Specialization in General Internal Medicine, Stroke Medicine, Geriatrics, Neurology, or Rehabilitation Medicine.
  • Proven ability to deliver expert care for stroke patients.
  • Strong communication and teamwork capabilities.
  • Basic management training.
  • Experience in teaching.
  • Involvement in audit and research activities.
