About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Geriatric Medicine Consultant to join our team at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a Consultant in Care of Older Persons, you will play a key role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our geriatric medicine services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert clinical opinion on a full range of acute medical conditions, including medical emergencies.
  • Take full and independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.
  • Contribute to the development of our geriatric medicine services, including the assessment and management of frail patients.
  • Participate in teaching and training junior doctors, medical students, and other healthcare professionals.
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
  • Member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP).
  • Higher training in General (Internal) Medicine and Geriatric medicine as required for Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR).
  • Entry onto the Specialist Registrar or a UK SpR within 6 months of CCT or significantly progressing CESR.
