About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Geriatric Medicine Consultant to join our team at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a Consultant in Care of Older Persons, you will be responsible for providing high-quality medical care to older adults, working closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver excellent patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert clinical opinion on a full range of acute medical conditions, including medical emergencies.
  • Take full and independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients, working collaboratively with junior and trainee medical staff.
  • Develop and implement effective care plans, ensuring the best possible outcomes for patients.
  • Contribute to the development of clinical guidelines and protocols, promoting best practice in geriatric medicine.
  • Participate in teaching and training junior doctors, medical students, and other healthcare professionals, sharing your expertise and knowledge.

Requirements
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
  • Member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP).
  • Higher training in General (Internal) Medicine and Geriatric medicine as required for Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR).
  • Entry onto the Specialist Registrar or a UK SpR within 6 months of CCT or significantly progressing CESR.
