Job Title: GP Receptionist/Patient Co-ordinator

We are seeking a highly organized and customer-focused individual to join our team as a GP Receptionist/Patient Co-ordinator at Eltham Medical Practice.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Telephone Management: Answer phone calls promptly and courteously, diverting calls, taking, and passing on messages accurately in line with practice procedures.
  • Appointment Management: Make appointments for patients, take requests for home visits, and answer queries in a friendly and helpful manner.
  • Patient Communication: Keep patients informed of any delays or problems when they are in the practice and deal with any concerns that may arise.
  • Administrative Tasks: Assist with cancelling and rescheduling appointments, find notes or other information for clinical staff as requested, and make phone calls for clinical staff when required.
  • Teamwork: Work as a team member with your admin and reception colleagues to provide excellent patient service.
  • Complaints Handling: Deal with patient complaints sensitively and according to the practice complaints procedure.
  • Prescription Management: In conjunction with the Prescriptions clerk, ensure that patients are aware of the 72-hour turn-around for prescription requests.
  • Practice Protocols: Be aware of all Reception and office protocols, including hospital and laboratory courier collections.
  • Financial Transactions: Advise patients of non-NHS and private services charges, accept payments, and issue receipts.
  • Practice Operations: Open and close the practice at the beginning and end of the day, checking security and setting the alarms as necessary.
  • Registration and Post: Deal with patient registrations and handle internal and external post.
  • Office Duties: Undertake photocopying, use the franking machine, and perform other basic office duties as directed by members of the team.
  • Correspondence: Assist in preparing and sending out practice mailings, recall letters, and other practice correspondence.
