About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Geriatric Medicine to join our team at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Department of Health Services for Elderly People, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality care to older patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver a consultant-led liaison service to frail and complex patients on the medical admission units, providing comprehensive geriatric care.
  • Undertake ward rounds, conduct board rounds, and participate in multidisciplinary meetings to ensure timely discharge planning for older patients.
  • Support the training of junior doctors and contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.
  • Work closely with our acute medicine and specialty colleagues to provide equitable leave cover for HSEP consultant colleagues.
  • Participate in clinical audit and continuing medical education to maintain and improve patient care.
Requirements
  • Be on the GMC Specialist Register for Geriatric Medicine and General Internal Medicine or be within 6 months of obtaining Certificate of Completion of Training or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR).
  • Have extensive experience in geriatric medicine, including admission avoidance and community geriatrics.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to multidisciplinary team working and comprehensive knowledge of current issues in General Medicine.
  • Have IT skills and computer literacy, as well as leadership and management skills, including the ability to take responsibility, show leadership, and make decisions.
