About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Geriatric Medicine Consultant to join our team at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Geriatric Medicine service, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our service.

Key Responsibilities

  • To provide comprehensive geriatric assessment and management of patients with complex medical needs, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care.
  • To lead and contribute to the development of our Geriatric Medicine service, including the implementation of new initiatives and the evaluation of existing services.
  • To provide education and training to junior doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, promoting best practice in geriatric medicine.
  • To participate in clinical governance and quality improvement activities, ensuring that our service meets the highest standards of patient care and safety.

Person Specification

  • MRCP or equivalent qualification
  • Full registration with the GMC and a license to practice
  • Experience of working in a geriatric medicine service, with a strong track record of clinical excellence and leadership
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Commitment to teaching and education, with experience of training junior doctors and other healthcare professionals
