We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Housing Support Officer to join our team at Caridon Group. As a Housing Support Officer, you will play a vital role in providing housing-related support to our clients, enabling them to maintain their tenancies and achieve their aspirations for independent living.
Key Responsibilities:- Personal Housing Plans and Risk Assessments: Carry out Personal Housing Plans and Risk assessments to identify clients' housing and support needs.
- Client Support: Support clients in meeting their set goals in accordance with their Personal Housing Plans.
- Housing and Support Needs: Work with clients to understand their housing and support needs, ambitions, strengths, and talents to increase their ability to cope and live independently.
- Tenancy Management: Provide support and advice to vulnerable people to enable them to manage their tenancies.
- Reporting Repairs: Assist clients in reporting repairs and maintaining weekly contact to support them in implementing their Personal Housing Plans.
- Review and Update: Conduct regular reviews of risk assessments and support plans to ensure clients' needs are met.
- Financial Support: Provide support on budgeting, maximising income, reducing expenditure, dealing with debt, rent arrears, and welfare benefits, including Housing Benefit.
- Health and Wellbeing: Work with a range of agencies to promote health and wellbeing, including harm reduction to reduce the impact of risky behaviours such as alcohol and/or drugs misuse.
- Anti-Social Behaviour: Manage any anti-social behaviour/incidents working side by side with Local Authority and external stakeholders in line with Caridon Group Policy and Procedure.
- Referral and Signposting: Signpost clients to specialist organisations and liaise with colleagues and other partners in the event of tenancy breakdown.
- Record Keeping: Record, update, and maintain accurate internal digital records (Nourish/Arthur/Company Share drive).
- Safeguarding: Record and report safeguarding concerns in line with Caridon Group duties and established policies and procedures.
- Multi-Agency Meetings: Attend multi-agency meetings to promote the needs of clients or Caridon Group.
- Move-On Plans: Work and support clients to create a realistic move-on plan that meets their housing needs.
- Property Inspections: Carry out regular planned visits and weekly property inspections to maintain the support service for tenants.
- Statistics: Provide monthly statistics.
- Confidentiality and Data Protection: Ensure confidentiality and data protection are observed at all times in compliance with the Data Protection Act & the General Data Protection Regulation.
- Team Support: Stand in for other team members as and when required and undertake ad hoc responsibilities depending on the service's needs.
- Experience: At least two years' experience in support work or a similar role.
- Professional Relationships: Demonstrable ability to develop non-judgmental professional relationships with vulnerable clients, including those with mental health issues, substance misuse, and homelessness.
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate well with clients and peers, working positively without direct supervision, managing own time, meeting deadlines, and undertaking training.
- Liaison Skills: Ability to liaise positively with other agencies and a knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, including basic first aid, food hygiene, and infection control.
