About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacy Technician to join our team at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the Lead Specialist Pharmacy Technicians in developing and maintaining the medicines management service at ward level.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assess patients' own medications and provide medicines reconciliation
  • Dispense original pack medications and counsel patients on their medications
  • Coordinate the supply of discharge medications, including dispensing TTAs on the wards
  • Support the induction and training of ward-based technicians, ATOs, Pre-registration Pharmacy Technicians, and Trainee pharmacists
Requirements
  • NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) qualification
  • Portfolio demonstrating competence in previous and current pharmacy practice skills and knowledge
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • ACPT facilitator
  • Experience of supervising staff and workload on a day-to-day basis
  • Experience of staff training
  • Experience of dispensing in a specialist area, such as clinical trials, HIV, or unlicensed medications
  • Stock control experience and knowledge
  • Ward top-up experience
Key Skills
  • Ability to prioritize and organize routine daily tasks using own initiative
  • Ability to identify and solve problems
  • Competent in all areas of dispensing practice
  • Good organizational and leadership skills
