About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Public Health Practitioner to join our Health Improvement team at Wiltshire Council. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in shaping our approach to tackling public health challenges and enhancing community well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the development and delivery of projects and programmes across a range of public health agendas, including healthy ageing, healthy weight, physical activity, and smoking cessation.
  • Work closely with Public Health Specialists and Principals to provide public health practitioner advice and guidance to colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Represent the Public Health Team and Wiltshire Council at partnership events, Boards, and working groups, promoting the service and building relationships with key partners.
  • Develop and lead on marketing campaigns for public health services, utilizing opportunities to promote the service to key partners, including Primary Care, Secondary Care, and community and voluntary sector.
  • Contribute to writing topic-related reports to inform Council, partner organisations, and government bodies, and contribute specialist topic information to annual public health reports and strategic documents.
Person Specification
  • A first degree or qualification of equivalent academic ability or the ability to demonstrate equivalent skills and experience relevant to Public Health.
  • Experience of project management, including developing and delivering training, group and 1:1 programmes, and community development programmes.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write reports and deliver presentations to a wide range of audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and influencing skills, with proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships (internally and externally) and facilitate groups.
  • Ability to innovate, providing creative resolutions to solving problems, proactively anticipate problems, and deliver solutions that enhance the quality and efficiency of public health services and projects.
