About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Public Health Practitioner to join our Health Improvement team at Wiltshire Council. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the development and implementation of public health strategies and initiatives that promote the health and well-being of our communities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide public health advice and guidance to colleagues and stakeholders to ensure the effective delivery of public health services.
- Lead on the development and implementation of public health projects and initiatives, including those related to healthy ageing, physical activity, and smoking cessation.
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including health partners, community groups, and voluntary organizations, to promote public health and well-being.
- Contribute to the development of public health policies and strategies, including those related to health inequalities and health protection.
- Provide training and support to colleagues and stakeholders on public health topics, including health promotion, health protection, and health improvement.
Person Specification:
- Essential:
- First degree or qualification of equivalent academic ability in a relevant field, such as public health, health promotion, or a related area.
- Experience of project management and public health practice.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to write reports and deliver presentations to a wide range of audiences.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision.
- Desirable:
- Registration or working towards registration at practitioner level with the UK Public Health Register (UKPHR).
- Experience of working with health inclusion groups, such as pregnant women, people with mental health problems, and children and young people.
- Up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance in relation to working with and the safeguarding of children/vulnerable adults.
