Graduate Environmental Scientist

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Environmental Scientist to join our team in Sittingbourne, Kent. As a key member of our Environmental Claims team, you will play a crucial role in supporting our work in Environmental Claims, dealing with land-based oil spills and other incidents.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct Phase I and Phase II site investigations to identify potential environmental hazards.
  • Collect and analyze soil and groundwater samples to determine the extent of contamination.
  • Supervise excavations and ensure compliance with Company health and safety protocols.
  • Prepare and send samples to accredited laboratories for analysis.
  • Assist in the preparation of Health and Safety documentation for site works.
  • Conduct remediation site inspections to monitor progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Liaise with contractors to ensure timely and effective completion of projects.
  • Operate scientific equipment to collect and analyze data.
Office-Based Duties:
  • Update project records and prepare reports for management.
  • Assist with maintenance of stores and ensure compliance with Company procedures.

We are looking for a candidate with a degree in an environment/land related subject, or equivalent experience. A flexible attitude to work, excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work as an effective member of a team are essential. A full UK/EC driving licence is also required, as the job will involve travel across the South of England.
