Job Purpose:

To work within the psychological department and support the professional psychological care and assessment of service users. The role involves working under supervision to deliver psychological services, including the planning, implementation, and evaluation of therapeutic services to support the mental, emotional, physical, and social well-being of service users.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. To undertake protocol-based psychological assessments of service users, applying psychological tests and measures, and collaborating with other professionals involved in the service user's care.
  2. To assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans, involving the psychological treatment and/or management of a service user's problems, under the supervision of a qualified psychologist.
  3. To assist in the coordination and co-facilitation of therapeutic groups, as appropriate.
  4. To support the planning, delivery, and review of one-to-one sessions, under the supervision of a qualified psychologist.
  5. To maintain accurate and up-to-date records, presenting and sharing relevant information with colleagues, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  6. To attend and contribute to multi-disciplinary meetings, as required.
  7. To support data collection and analysis, for research and service evaluation purposes, including collecting and reviewing various data, and data analysis and report writing under supervision.
  8. To contribute to the training and support of other staff.
Requirements:
  1. Applicants will be expected to apply their knowledge and skills gained through their undergraduate degree in psychology, under the supervision of an experienced and HCPC registered practitioner psychologist.
  2. Assistant Psychologists will carry out tasks under the management and supervision of an experienced and HCPC registered practitioner psychologist.
  3. The assistant psychologist workload will be managed under supervision, with goals agreed in weekly supervision sessions.
Accountability:
  1. It is the responsibility of the role holder to ensure the accuracy, security, and confidentiality of patient records, in line with policy and data protection guidance.
  2. Assistant Psychologists will undertake training as indicated by their supervisor.
  3. Assistant Psychologists will undertake weekly supervision with their designated supervisor.
