About Nuclear Restoration Services Limited (NRS)

Nuclear Restoration Services Limited (NRS) operates as a fully owned subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA). Our primary responsibility encompasses the decommissioning of first-generation nuclear power facilities, including sites such as Berkeley, Bradwell, and Hinkley Point A, among others.

In addition to decommissioning, NRS oversees electricity generation at the hydroelectric plant located at Maentwrog. The NRS Dounreay division specifically focuses on the cleanup and demolition of the former fast reactor research center.

Role Overview

As a Project Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the technical execution of projects. This position requires collaboration with contractors to ensure the successful design, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning of various systems.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying project functional requirements and stakeholder expectations.
  • Developing concept designs and engineering solutions that are fit for purpose.
  • Producing, reviewing, or approving technical specifications for projects.
  • Managing detailed design activities in compliance with design authority standards and regulations.
  • Preparing modification proposals and acting as a Nominated Responsible Engineer (NRE) for plant modifications.
  • Providing technical oversight during commissioning and decommissioning processes.
Key Deliverables

In this role, you will:

  • Ensure the successful handover of projects to operations, including all necessary documentation and training.
  • Maintain site configuration control of documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Adhere to all Environment, Health, Safety, Security, and Quality policies and procedures.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives related to Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality.
Qualifications & Experience

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of an HNC or equivalent NQF level 4 engineering qualification.
  • Experience in a mechanical engineering role within an industrial setting.
  • Familiarity with nuclear and/or conventional project engineering.
  • An understanding of relevant national engineering standards.
  • Knowledge of risk assessment methodologies and safety regulations.

Additional Information
